LILBURN — Norcross senior quarterback Tommie Traylor finished with four touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 42-0 win at Berkmar in Region 7-AAAAAAA football on Friday.

The Blue Devils improve to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in region play. Norcross head coach Corey Richardson praised his team’s resilience after falling to region leader Brookwood last week.

“We don’t take wins for granted,” Richardson said. “We started out sloppy in the second quarter. After halftime, I felt like we executed and finished.”

It was a bounce-back game for Traylor, too. He has stepped up after an early-season injury to starting quarterback Luqman Baig.

“He got better,” Richardson said of Traylor’s performance. “From last week to this week, he took a step forward. He did a good job preparing for tonight’s game and it showed.”

The Blue Devils’ opening drive featured all runs, capped off with a 16-yard run by junior running back Sylvester Jarwlee.

After taking an early 7-0 lead, the Blue Devils continued to build on their next drive. Traylor completed a 51-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Justin Weaver, putting the Blue Devils ahead by 14 with 5:42 left in the first quarter.

Traylor threw another touchdown pass in the first quarter, this time to Zien Goodine for 10 yards for a 21-0 lead.

Traylor scored the lone touchdown for both teams in the second quarter on a 28-yard rush. He added another score in the third quarter with a three-yard run.

Backup running back Connor Washington also scored on a 22-yard rushing touchdown as Norcross tuned up for for next week’s home matchup against Peachtree Ridge.
