On Tuesday, Norcross High School Track and Field had a super successful day placing 3rd and sat on the podium highlighting one of the best seasons we have ever had. We had multiple state champions for the first time in recent memory. The girls also had a successful day finishing 18th out of a total of 58 6A schools. Please congratulate the following athletes on all of their hard work this season.
Jayson Jones was awarded the High Point Award as the single athlete to score the most points at the State Meet.
STATE CHAMPIONS
??Harry Kyle in Pole Vault jumping 15ft-6in
??Jayson Jones in the 400m running a USA top 10 time of 46.12 and the #1 sophomore in the country.
??Jayson Jones in the 200m running a USA top 50 time of 20.83 into a huge negative wind of -2.6
??4x200m Relay team of Jordan Isabu, Jayson Jones, Dejon Lewis and Elijah Nunn finishing as the #1 time across all classifications with a 1:26.03 in a photo finish.
Podium Finishers
??Zhalay Wilson in the 800m going back-to-back 2nd place finishes at State.
Emma Bishop in Pole Vault finished in 5th place with a jump of 9ft-6in.
Ryan Frank in Pole Vault finished in 6th place with a jump of 13ft is the top returning Vaulter in 6A for next season.
Boys 4x400m Relay team of Elijah Nunn, Juan Martinez-Mendoza, Dejon Lewis and Jayson Jones finished 8th place with a 3:21.
State Competitors
Drew Noelsaint finished in 13th place at state in the Triple Jump
Girls 4x200m Relay of McKenzie Mapp, Mehkyla Pannell, Leilani Moncrief and Zhalay Wilson in 13th place.
Leilani Moncrief finished in 12th place at state in the 200m.
John Goodwin finished in 14th place at state in the 800m.
A special thank you to our coaching staff, Coach Royal, Coach Barron, Coach Evers, Coach Smith, Coach Alexander and Coach Allan that have shown a great amount of dedication since we began in early January. It was a LONG season but incredibly rewarding.
