The Blue Devils' defense and senior running back Kendall Edwards led the way in the first half, ultimately forcing a running clock in the second half.
For Blue Devils head coach Corey Richardson, this win was about handling business early.
“What I was looking for was a fast start and that's what we did that early on,” Richardson said. “Then it was about getting the (backups) that deserved it in the second half and getting out with no injuries.”
Sophomore kick returner Jayson Jones kicked things off for the Blue Devils. Jones took the opening kickoff to the house for 97 yards, putting the Blue Devils ahead by seven in the first quarter.
The defense built on Jones' kickoff. Blue Devils junior safety Joshua Burks picked off Patriots quarterback Davian Johnson and took it deep into Patriots territory.
Edwards capped off the drive with an 11-yard rushing touchdown, stretching the Blue Devils lead to 14 points.
Senior cornerback Jayden Clermont increased the Blue Devils lead with a 68-yard pick-six with 4:35 to play in the first quarter.
Edwards scored on a 36-yard touchdown run, increasing the Blue Devils lead to 28.
Senior quarterback P.J. Wolfe threw his lone touchdown of the night to sophomore tight end Davis Marschke for a 16-yard touchdown pass.
The Blue Devils led 35-0 at halftime.
The Patriots added three scores in the second half. Junior running back John Collins scored on a nine-yard run in the third quarter.
Johnson threw nine- and 29-yard passes to add two more scores for the Patriots.
