Norcross looks to keep its focus this week on winless Berkmar with two big Region 7-AAAAAA football games — at home against North Gwinnett and at Brookwood — ahead the following two weeks.
The Blue Devils were off last Friday to prepare for the stretch run after a thrilling, 22-16 win over Parkview two weeks ago. They trailed Parkview 19-7 entering the fourth quarter before pulling ahead with 15 fourth-quarter points.
Joshua Burks continued his stellar play in the comeback win, carrying 15 times for 76 yards and two touchdowns. He also 10 tackles (one for loss) on defense.
The Blue Devils’ other defensive leaders in the latest win were Rahja Widsom (11 tackles, four for losses), Carter Luckie (eight tackles, three for losses, one sack), Chase Huff (eight tackles, one for loss), Antoine Lewis (nine tackles, two for losses, one sack), Anthony Allen (nine tackles, three for losses), Miles Davis (nine tackles, one for loss) and Gerardo Telomico (two tackles for losses).
Elijah Frey also was a factor with five punts for a 48.6-yard average, putting all five inside the 20-yard line.
Berkmar, also off last Friday, is building a program with a young roster under first-year head coach Bre’nard Williams. The Patriots have been outscored 370-55 and have allowed 45 or more points in every game.
