Norcross’ Jayson Jones and Buford’s Janessa Brown, both sophomores, took top honors at the Atlanta Track Club’s All-Metro Track and Field Track and Field Awards on Wednesday.

Jones was named the Boys Track Athlete of the Year after winning state championships in the 200- and 400-meter dash. He ran the 200 in 20.81 seconds at state, and ran the 400 in 46.12, a top-10 time nationally.

Brown was the Girls Field Athlete of the Year after going undefeated on the season in the long jump, including a state title-winning leap of 20 feet, 6 1/2 inches that ranked in the top five nationally. She also placed fourth in the state in the 100 (11.89).

Gwinnett also was represented on the club’s All-Metro Team by Collins Hill senior Jameson Pifer in the boys 3,200, Buford senior Marcus Rasberry Jr. in the boys discus, Buford junior Olivia Harris in the girls 400 and Lanier junior Brooklyn Randolph in the girls 300 hurdles.

The state champion Buford girls also earned All-Metro recognition in the 400 relay, the 800 relay and the 1,600 relay.
