Norcross’ Region 7-AAAAAA football title hopes took a big hit with last week’s two-point loss to Peachtree Ridge, but the Blue Devils move forward this week with a game at Meadowcreek.
Despite the loss, Norcross showed fight against Peachtree Ridge and had a chance to tie in the waning moments but it failed on a potential game-tying two-point conversion.
The Blue Devils’ defense held Peachtree Ridge in check over the final two quarters to allow the comeback. Elijah Frey continues to be a special teams difference-maker for Norcross — two punts for a 55-yard average, 4-for-4 kickoffs for touchbacks, a 35-yard FG and 1-for-1 on PATs.
Meadowcreek, which has lost 14 straight games, is in rebuilding mode under new head coach Johnny Burdette.
The Mustangs saw a big deficit by halftime in last week’s region-opening loss, though they kept fighting to the end. Quarterback Yourhinest Carter threw for 164 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for a score.
