After an off week, Norcross’ football team looks to build on its strong start under new head coach Corey Richardson.
The Blue Devils held on for a 16-12 victory over Lanier in the opener, and followed it up two weeks ago with an impressive, 45-28 win at Mill Creek. It was the program’s first win over Mill Creek since 2020 — it had lost four in a row and eight of the last nine to Mill Creek.
Big plays were the difference in the outcome against Mill Creek. P.J. Wolfe’s 87-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Edwards got things rolling in a 21-point first quarter, and the Blue Devils also got a 49-yard and 13-yard TD passes from Wolfe to Titus Travis, a 34-yard TD pass from Wolfe to Davis Marschke and a 59-yard punt return TD from Chase Huff that sealed the win.
Wolfe completed 11 of 20 passes for 257 yards and four TDs and Travis had three catches for 97 yards and two TDs. Nasir Mitchell (81 percent blocking grade, two knockdown blocks) led the way on the line.
Huff finished with four punt returns for 158 yards and two kickoff returns for 82 yards, in addition to 10 tackles and four pass breakups on defense. Miles Davis (14 tackles, one for loss, one QB hurry), Joshua Burks (12 tackles) and Carter Luckie (11 tackles, four for losses, one sack) also stood out on defense.
