Nasir Anderson, a rising junior at Norcross, earned tournament MVP honors and helped the United States U-16 National Team to the championship in the FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup in Juarez, Mexico over the weekend.
The Americans capped a 6-0 run in the tournament with a 108-71 rout of Canada in Sunday’s championship game. They are now 49-0 with nine goal medals in the history of the event.
Anderson, a 6-foot-2 guard, had seven assists in the finals and 41 for the tournament, breaking the U.S. record in the event previously held by Rob Dillingham (37). He also had 12 points, three rebounds and two steals in the title game.
